The Amazing Raise: A scavenger hunt to end homelessness

One of my favorite nonprofit organizations is Housing Forward, formerly known as West Suburban PADS. I became involved with this organization after buying my house in Oak Park several years ago. I became friends with a couple of the people who live in Oak Park and worked for PADS and they got me involved with volunteering at various events. In 2014/2015, I was the President of their newly formed Associate Board. The main contribution of the Associate Board while I was there was organizing a scavenger hunt fundraiser. The hunt takes places in downtown Chicago and the funds raised go towards helping move people from homelessness to stable housing. The 2nd annual scavenger hunt was this past Saturday and since I was in town, I was able to attend. Despite the cool, windy, drizzly weather, we had so much fun! Here are some of my favorite photos from the hunt. If you are interested in learning more about Housing Forward, here is their website:

Enacting a scene worthy of the front page of the Tribune in front of the Jack Brickhouse statue – the Cubs win the World Series!

Pretending to playing in a symphony in front of the Bloomingdale Home store. And then we had to take a photo leaving a wedding at Holy Name cathedral. You can kind of see the bride in the background in the second photo below.
